"The Pursuit of Happyness" -- the title comes from a misspelled schoolhou mural -- has a lot on
its mind but mostly this: If America is about the promi of bettering onelf, why does it have to
be so freaking hard? In the movie, Jefferson's Declaration of Independence words about happiness
kept recurring to Chris Gardner. Every day, Christ had to work hard from morning till night, but
still could hardly make a living. Chris saw a bunch of suits, mostly male, pouring out of the Dean
Witter Reynolds brokerage firm in downtown San Francisco. They all looked “happy,” “Why
not me? “ Christ wondered. He did have an adorable boy, Christopher, but wife Linda was
becoming a scarecrow of overworked anxiety. Finally, his wife left Christ becau of life pressure,
leaving him and her five-year-old son, Christopher. And naturally, Christ became a single father.
With the failure of his business, Christ had no money to pay for the rent, so they were driven away
from the flat. They became homeless. They slept in asylum, subway station public bathroom or
anywhere as a temporary shelter. The destitution of life was absolutely depressing, but for his son’s future, for his own belief, Christ never gave up and he still strongly believed that happiness
would come one day if he worked hard enough today. With his great efforts, Christ won a
six-month internship at Dean Witter, but there was no pay at all. So on one hand, Christ had to
work hard to make a living; on the other hand, he had to fight for his intern work, since only one
of the twenty interns would succeed finally. Besides, he had to take good care of his son after day
care. However, Christ made it with his amazing willpower. Christ was unfortunate, for he got a
wife who was not understandable at all (though she has her own difficulties) and was in bad luck
with his business. But he was very fortunate also, for he got a son who was very thoughtful and, I
think, tough life experiences always make a great person

The Pursuit of Happiness----The feeling after watching
We are always looking forward to happiness, becau we have to knock on the door of
happiness and diligently.
I don't think about happiness, but I don't know directors or writers definition of what is
happiness. The film hero Chris·Gardner relying on our own efforts, stockbroker, obtained the
work, then t up his own company. Then he smiled, we also smiled, becau he is successful, he
is the main.
Movie hero Chris·Gardner is happy, becau he succeeded. He little dream has been realized. For him, the family is all. However, for our Chine teenagers, we still can pursue: pure. We are
full of blood, we can boil the whole world, the heroine in early, it is a kind of happiness, sadness,
haven't young have old.
Happiness, not a single. We can in other people's stories, tears stream down slowly should not
perish. We should be delighted for him happy, but more should pursue happiness.
My favorite part is in the subway, the father and son were very depresd, for the first time,
the homeless father doesn't ll machines as a time machine, said to the son, we returned to the
dinosaur era, we were dinosaurs attacks, ah, we find a hole. When I was a child is old illusion that
scene, hoping to find somewhere safe refuge. Father's son, but the father of asylum? Only in the
toilet, lock the door, carrying the child cry.
By the end of his father, a persistent dream realized the were nsible, but nothing really
make people the hope. Eventually have to pay.
The film also is a very funny, with all the Chine written English is poor, or not, the head of
a kindergarten teacher. Is the poor child necessary choice. But they are honest kindness.
Although the film, in my opinion, but also has written defects have it gave me strength.
You have a dream, you got to protect it!
當幸福來敲門英文影評
the movie "The Pursuit of Happiness", Will Smith portrays Chris Gardner, a man pursuing a
dream. Gardner is a salesman for a piece of medical equipment which is too expensive for what it
is worth. After going months without any sales, his wife decides to start a better life, leaving him
alone to rai their son, Christopher (Jaden Smith). After Gardner's wife leaves, he continues to try
to ll the medical device. He then es an opening to his future as a stock broker. The only
problem is that, in order to be considered for the job, he must complete a highly competitive,
six-month, unpaid internship. He does everything he can to prove to his boss, himlf, and his son,
that he can be a better man, even if this means living in hotels, homeless shelters, or even the
bathroom of a subway station. While completing the internship, he continues to attempt to ll the
equipment to make ends meet and pay for his son's day care. This is a classic story of a family
living in poverty working their way up the social ladder towards happiness, and doing whatever it
takes to reach the top.
One of the main messages of "The Pursuit of Happiness" is 'never give up.' Chris Gardner
goes from just barely having enough money to pay the rent to having nothing but the clothes on
his back, and the love and faith of his son. Gardner was able to dodge anything and everything that
life threw at him and became a top stock broker. This film is not as much about finding a job and
making money as much ......
The pursuit of happiness
“You got a dream, you got to protect it.” After watching the pursuit of happiness, I was
inspired deeply by this ntence. No matter how difficult and distresd the life is, no
matter how haggard and tired you are, don’t be despaired! Everything will be better if
you try and work hard. Just like Chris Gardner, a father who life is filled with troubles, you occasionally hear a bit of a tremble in his voice and he looks very old and tired. Due to
the poor life, his wife left him and their child. In the film you can e many scenes that
Chris Gardner and his son move from apartment to motel room to homeless shelter, even
live in the toilet of railway station. Chris lives a poor and hopeless life. But he didn’t give
in. Everyday he runs from home to kindergarten, run from kindergarten to doctors’ office,
run from offices to interviews. Everyday he is running. Everyday he is pursuing happiness.
Everyday he is overcoming poverty and homelessness to become a successful stockbroker.
In spite of the fact that he undergoes too many despair and sad, he never give up his
dream.
This film let me remind of my own experience. Since I enter into the university, it has been
two months. I always feel frustrated and lf-abad and I always feel that I am inferior to
others. For examples, when I answer the teacher’s questions, I always feel nervous and
think that my answer is wrong. And any other classmates always answer the questions
correctly. When we have a quiz for the former class, I always have a not very good mark.
I am a English major, but I find that I am not very like English. So I always think I haven’t
the talent for learning language.
Why? Why am I so upt? Why am I so unconfident? Why can’t I work hard a bit? Why
can’t I hold on? Why and why?
Through my deep thinking, the answer is:
1. I never try hard.
2. I never work hard.
3. I never insist on learning.
4. Last but not least, I never pursue my dream!
Do you remember the ntences? “Don’t ever let someone tell you, you can’t do
something. Not even me.” Yes, not even mylf. Don’t doubt yourlf. Trust that you can.
“You want something? Go get it. Period.” Yes, If you want be successful, do it bravely.
The film’s English name is the pursuit of happiness. But the translator translate it into
Chine is 當幸福敲門時,I can’t understand why. I think, pursuit means running after
the dream and happiness, not means waiting happiness coming. You must cha your
dream activity. In addition, the actor’s success depends on his own efforts. As the actor
said: “It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration
of Independence, and the part about our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
And I remember thinking: How did he know to put the "pursuit" part in there? That maybe
happiness is something that we can only pursue. And maybe we can actually never have
< matter what. How did he know that?” Happiness and dream are something that we can only pursue. Go for it.
A Review of《The Pursuit of Happiness》
I have en《The Pursuit of Happiness》 veral days ago , but I can't forget Chris and his
spirits until now . To be honest , this move is really a big shock to me , and the strong power in
Chris has been influencing me all the time .
Characters and the climate
There are mainly three characters : Chris Gardner 、Christopher、 Linda ,and the leading
character is Chris Gardner ,the father. The whole atmosphere is positive ,though there is a large
part describing the bitter struggles of Chris ,his spirit is inspiring , and there is no disappear but
hope and stable belief in happiness.
Development of events
The story of Chris Gardner is divided into six part ,I will introduce them one by one .
Part one : Riding the bus
It was in San Francisco 1981, Chris spent all his money on buying medical equipments ,
but later he found that they were unpopular among doctors ,becau they were expensive and
almost uless . everyday he did his best to promote the equipment to doctors ,but he can't earn
enough for the rent and kindergarten , his life was not easy .
Part two: Being stupid
In this part ,Chris had to apply for a work as a stock woker ,so he left the medical equipment
with a girl ,but the girl took it away ! what a accident !
Part three : Running
He rann after the girl who had stolen the equipment ,finally ,he took it back ,another situation
is that he had no money for the taxi ,so he escaped ;Third ,he was nt to the prison for owing the
taxes ,and the next morning ,he ran to the stock company for a interview with paint stains on his
body .
Part four : Internship
Chris got the job as a internship for six months without salary ,,it was really a hard time
for him ,he had to ll the equipment while working as a internship. Afterall , he earned some
money from the medical equipments
Part five : Paying taxes
In this part ,there was a big hit to him ,the government took $600 from his account and he
only had $21.33 left ,he was broke again .this part was the most impressive but inspiring
one .During that time ,he and his son spent a night in the WC ,and lived in the church hospice for
many days ,although there were many barriers ,he carried on eking for the happiness.
Part six : Happiness
It was an exciting part ,Chris was succeed ,and he did it finally ,he became a successful stock
worker!
My views on the story
After the move ,I thought of many things :we hold the truths to be lf-evident that all men
are created equally , that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights ,that
among the are life ,liberty and the pursuit of happiness . I think Chris must have read the above
paragraph for many times and believed it unswervingly.
At the beginning of the move, after Chris has nt Christopher to the kindergarten , he saw a
wrong word on the wall ,and said the famous ntence : There is no 'Y' in happiness ,the only
thing we can do is striving for our own happiness voluntarily .Just like Chris do.
The silly scene of taking a bus was a part of Chris Gardner's life , in the move , Chris
Gardner ,a poor father ,who had his wife left him ,becau she could't handle her life without
financial curity .while Chris was lling medical equipment to doctors , she decided get away
from her poor family . Although under great pressure , Chris cho to stick it out, and fight for
what he known he can do ,for him ,and for his son. He is strong in spirit ,whatever barriers he
meet ,he just continued his work and never stopped running .but it looks like that god likes to play
tricks with him , he had gone through more hardships than others before the final success .
I think it is really a good move ,we are unique and we are ourlves ,just hold a dream and do
what you can do ,and do your best ,don't ever let somebody tell you that you can't do something .If
you want something ,go and get it . It is said that the move is from a true story ,so we should
believe the ntence that “Everything is possible” .
Like Chris's forefathers ,who poss the desire and the passion to live it ,who dream the
American dream . In the end he finally made his dream come true ,he became a banker.
“Hey ,dad ,listen to this ,knock, knock ”I know who was there .he was happiness .
The Pursuit of Happiness is really an excellent move , after watching it ,I can't calm my heart
down for a long time, there are tears on my face ,but smile in my heart ,I think Chris is a good
example for all of us ,just be optimistic and go to realize your dream.
The Pursuit of Happiness
With a title like The Pursuit of Happiness, you expect the characters to get to the promid
land. They do, but if the journey matters more than the destination, this is a movie to skip. The
Pursuit of Happyness is long, dull, and depressing. It expands into two hours a story that could
have been told more effectively in one. This is not the feel-good movie of the ason unless you
believe that a few moments of good cheer can redeem 110 minutes of gloom. Sitting through The
Pursuit of Happiness is a chore. Downbeat movies aren't inherently bad (in fact, many are
powerful), but this one provides artificial characters in contrived circumstances. How is it that
movies “inspired by a real story” often feel more fake than tho fully embedded in the realm of
fiction?
Will Smith has generated Oscar buzz for his portrayal of Chris Gardner, the real-life guy
who rags-to-riches story forms the basis of the movie. (Impoverished guy becomes capitalist
poster boy.) While it's fair to say that this is one of the best straight performances of Smith's
career, it didn't blow me away. In and of itlf, the acting, while effective, is not Best Actor
material, but it wouldn't surpri me if the movie's prestige factor and Smith's popularity earn him
a nod. Meanwhile, his female co-star, Thandie Newton, isn't going to be considered for any award.
Newton spends about 90% of her screen time doing an impersonation of a harpy: screeching,
bitching, and contorting her face into unpleasant expressions. Smith's son, Jaden, is okay as the
movie's child protagonist; it's unclear whether his occasional deficiencies are the result of his
acting, Steven Conrad's writing, or Gabriele Muccino's direction, but there's not much personality
behind the cute features and curly hair.
Chris Gardner (Will Smith) is down on his luck. It's 1981 San Francisco and his
lf-employed business of lling portable bone density scanners isn't doing well. His wife, Linda
(Thandie Newton), does nothing but yell at him and give him a cold shoulder, and the lack of
domestic harmony is impacting the disposition of his beloved son, Christopher (Jaden
Christopher Syre Smith)。 That's when Chris' life turns into a country song. His wife leaves. He is
evicted from his home. He goes to jail, neither passing GO nor collecting a much-needed $200. He
gets hit by a car. He is robbed. He makes his son cry. He alienates a friend over $14. He gets to
spend a night in the cleanest public restroom in the history of public restrooms. But there's a bright
spot, although you need a dark-adapted eye to find it. Despite having no experience, Chris applies
to enter an internship program at Dean Witter. He would appear to have no chance to get in until
he amazes the head of the program (Brian Howe) by solving the Rubik's Cube puzzle in the
back of a taxi cab.
It's a blessing that the movie doesn't u a stock villain to impede Chris' herky-jerky trip to
the top, becau that would have tipped the movie into the empire of the unwatchable. However,
the lack of a strong conflict makes the two-hour running length em very long. Thankfully,
there's also not much in the way of overt melodrama, but that could be a byproduct of having
characters who are not deeply realized and have narrow emotional ranges. It's tough to connect
with Chris and his son. Although they are played by a real-life father and son, there's no chemistry
between them. We're constantly told how desperately Chris loves Christopher, but it takes a long
time before we begin to buy it. Most of the time, Christopher ems like an annoying piece of baggage that Chris drops off at daycare when he has other things to do.
The film's most compelling scenes are tho that show Chris struggling to enter the rat race.
Granted, this is no Glengarry Glen Ross, but it shows the pressure the salesmen are under and
how important the contact lists are. In the overall scheme of things, however, the quences are
background noi. They are neither plentiful nor lengthy. The movie spends more time following
Chris on his futile sales rounds for the bone density scanner than it does accompanying him during
his broker training.
The moral of the story is as trite as they come: don't let anyone convince you to give up on
your dreams. Disney animated films have been doing this better for decades. The Pursuit of
Happyness concludes with a caption that tells us what happens to Chris after the end of the movie;
it promis a better story than the one we have just watched. The film is also marred by a
persistent (although not verbo) voiceover that adds nothing to the story while frequently
jerking us out of the experience of watching it. I don't need Will Smith telling me: “This part of
the story is called 'riding the bus.?”
This is the English-language debut of Gabriele Muccino, who has made a name for himlf in
Italian cinema. The Pursuit of Happiness has the kind of slow, drab tone one occasionally
associates with a director raid outside of the Hollywood system. What can be an ast in some
circumstances is a detriment in this one. The Pursuit of Happiness isn't enjoyable, and its meager
pleasures, including the eventual “payoff,” aren't enough to justify the unrelenting miry. The
Pursuit of Happiness is competently made and gets lots of the details right, but when it comes to
the emotional core of the story, it los the pursuit and miss the “happiness.”
