習(xí)：forbid的用法

一、基本詞義

vt.（forbade/forbad,forbidden）禁止，不準(zhǔn)

Women are_forbidden_from going out without a veil.

婦女不帶面紗禁止外出。

I will forbid you to leave unless you apologize for what you have done.

如果你不為自己所做的事情道歉，我不允許你離開(kāi)。

二、習(xí)慣用語(yǔ)

sth禁止某事

Parliament pasd an Act forbidding the killing of rare animals.

國(guó)會(huì)通過(guò)了一項(xiàng)法令，禁止捕殺珍稀動(dòng)物。

2. forbid sb. sth. 禁止或不準(zhǔn)某人使用某物或進(jìn)入某處。如：

His wife forbids him wine. 他老婆不準(zhǔn)他喝酒。

We forbid him the hou. 我們不準(zhǔn)他進(jìn)屋。

3. forbid doing sth. 禁止或不準(zhǔn)做某事。如：

We forbid smoking in the office. 本辦公室內(nèi)不準(zhǔn)吸煙。

I forbid him going there again. 我不準(zhǔn)他再去那兒。

注：forbid 一般不直接跟不式作賓語(yǔ)。

4. forbid sb. to do sth. 禁止或不準(zhǔn)某人做某事。如：

I forbid him to go there again. 我不準(zhǔn)他再去那兒。

The teacher forbids the students to read such books. 老師不準(zhǔn)學(xué)

生看那樣的書(shū)。

【友情提示】通常不說(shuō) forbid sb from doing sth, 盡管英語(yǔ)已有此用法，

但很多詞書(shū)反對(duì)這一用法，中學(xué)生慎用。另外，forbid后面不能直接跟動(dòng)詞不

式作賓語(yǔ)，而是跟動(dòng)名詞作賓語(yǔ)，但可以用forbid do sth. 形式，有

類(lèi)似用法的單詞還有 allow, permit, advi 。
