the other的用法比較固定，包含兩層意思：

1. the表示特定的，不是隨便的。

2. other表示其他的，相當(dāng)于形容詞，后面要加名詞的，不能單獨(dú)使用。

我們同學(xué)往往會(huì)記得the other + 名詞單數(shù)，表示兩個(gè)中的另一個(gè)。但實(shí)際上，the other 還可以加名詞復(fù)數(shù)，表示兩批中的另一批（一般翻譯成余下所有），相當(dāng)于把一個(gè)整體分成了兩個(gè)部分。

于是，我們得出以下結(jié)論：

1. the other無論加單數(shù)還是復(fù)數(shù)，都相當(dāng)于把原來的事物“一分為二”，先說一個(gè)（或一部分），然后再說另一個(gè)（或另一部分）

2. the other加單數(shù)也可以，加復(fù)數(shù)也可以。只是翻譯不同，但根本邏輯是相同的。

答案：C。雙胞胎是兩個(gè)人，一個(gè)另一個(gè)，就用the other，符合the other的使用條件。正常來說the other后面需要加名詞（或代詞one），但在one... the other...的舉行中，可以省略第二個(gè)one（the other one）。

2. The Smiths have visited two famous cities since last Sunday. One is in Japan and________ is in China.

A. another B．other C．others D．the other

答案：C。街道只有兩邊，無論是東西走向的街道（街道兩邊就是南北兩邊）、還是南北走向的街道（街道兩邊就是東西兩邊），都是兩者中的另一者，就用the other。

6. Some of the speakers went straight to the conference room.______speakers are still hanging around.

A. another B.other C. the other D. one

答案：C。題干中的speakers是一個(gè)整體，some是一些，some與余下的?speakers一起構(gòu)成了一個(gè)整體。some是一部分，?余下的speakers是另一部分。構(gòu)成兩批之中的另一批的概念，因此用the other。

7. Mr Turner bought two bikes. One was for his wife, and______was for his son.

A. another B.other C. the other D. one

答案：C。題干是兩個(gè)自行車，一個(gè)另一個(gè)，就用the other，符合the other的使用條件。 正常來說the other后面需要加名詞（或代詞one），但在one... the other...的舉行中，可以省略第二個(gè)one（the other one）。
