長吻原海豚

白鰭豚（biqtn）,在長江里大約生活了2500萬年的白暨豚,是中新世及上新世延存至

今的古老孑遺生物.白暨豚是鯨類家族中小個體成員,是世界上現有5種淡水豚(拉河豚、亞河

豚、恒河豚、印河豚、白暨豚)中存活頭數最少的一種.由于數量奇少,白暨豚不僅被列為中國

一級保護動物,也是世界12種最瀕危動物之一.原屬淡水豚科,20世紀70年代末,根據中國科

學家周開亞教授的建議,單獨設立了白暨豚科.鯨目白暨豚科白暨豚屬的唯一種.

白鰭豚的體形呈紡錘形,身長約2-2.5米左右,體重可達200千克以上.嘴部又長又細,背呈

白鰭豚主要生活在長江中下游及與其連通的洞庭湖、鄱陽湖、錢塘江等水域中,通常成

對或10余頭在一起,喜在水深流急處活動.現有數量稀少,20年前的估計只有300頭左右,當時

就已面臨滅絕的危險.

白鰭豚喜歡群居,尤其在春天交配季節,集群行為就更明顯.每群一般2-16頭.其活動范圍

廣,但對水溫條件要求較高,經常在一個固定區域停留一段時間,待水溫條件發生改變后,又遷

入另一地域.以魚類為食.

白鰭豚喜歡生活在江河的深水區,很少靠近岸邊和船只,但它時常游弋至淺水區,追逐魚

蝦充饑.它的吻寬細長,上下頜長有130多枚圓錐形的同型齒,可它卻懶得咀嚼,只管張口吞下

魚食,消化能力很強.白暨豚往往成對或三五成群一起活動,但人們很少有機會看到它,只有在

它露出水面呼吸時才能瞥見一眼.

白鰭豚分布在長江中下游干流的湖北枝城至長江口約1600千米的江段內,以魚為食,喜

結群活動,小群約2～3頭,大群約9～16頭.白暨豚是用肺呼吸的水生哺乳動物,每次呼吸時,

頭頂及呼吸孔先浮出水面,接著露出背部和低三角形的背鰭,出水呼吸時間約1-2秒鐘,潛水時

間每次約20秒,長潛時可達200秒.成熟個體最大體長,雌性2.5米,雄性2.3米,體重100～150

千克,有恒定體溫,總是在36攝氏度左右.

白鰭豚兩年繁殖一次,每胎1仔,出生時體長80厘米左右.新生幼體體色略深.成年白暨豚

一般背面呈淺青灰色,腹面呈潔白色,在陽光的照耀下尤其光亮.水平伸展的鰭肢和尾鰭上下

兩面分別與背面和腹面同色,這樣的顏色分布恰好與環境顏色相符.當由水面向下看時,背部

的青灰色和江水混為一體很難分辨；當由水底向上看時,白色的腹部和水面反射的強光顏色

相近也很難被發現.這使得白鰭豚在逃避敵害、接近獵物時,有了天然的隱蔽屏障.白暨豚壽命

可達30多年,雌獸一般在6歲達到性成熟,雄獸為4歲.成年白暨豚每年發情兩次,分別在3月

至5月,8月至10月.孕期為10至11個月,一胎一仔,偶有兩仔.野生狀態下,成年白鰭豚雌雄比

例為1：1,但雌獸懷孕率一般僅為30％,自然繁殖率很低.

每年的冬末春初是白鰭豚的交配期,母豚妊娠期長達1年左右,因此產仔大多在來年的春

季.出生后的小白鰭豚靠母親的乳汁喂養,直到五六歲才算成熟；一般壽命30年.

白鰭豚是食肉動物,口中約有130個尖銳牙齒,為同型齒.常在晨昏時游向岸邊淺水處進行

捕食,一般以整條吞食體長小于6.5厘米的淡水魚類為主,也吃少量的水生植物和昆蟲.呼吸時,

頭部先出水,然后全部露出水面,在水面游動2米后,再入水中.白鰭豚的視力幾乎為零,依靠回

聲定位了解環境變化的情況,在生物學、仿生學和生理學等方面具有廣泛的科研價值.但白鰭

豚生性膽小,很容易受到驚嚇,一般都遠離船只,很難接近,加之其種群數量很少,活動區域廣闊,

所以在野生狀態下對白鰭豚的研究十分有限.

白鰭豚皮膚光滑細膩,富有一種特殊的彈性,原理與競賽式游泳衣著中使用具有彈性的尼

龍織料相同,能夠減少在水中快速游動時身軀周圍產生的湍流.它的尾鰭扁平地分為兩叉,兩

邊的胸鰭呈扁平的手掌狀,背鰭呈三角形.這四鰭給白鰭路德金 豚提供了優良的水中游動時方向與平

衡的控制力,再加上光滑高彈性的皮膚與流線型的身軀,白鰭豚在逃避危險的情況下可達每小

時60千米的游速.平常它保持著每小時10至15千米的游速.

白鰭豚長期生存于長江的濁水中,所以它的視覺和聽覺均退化嚴重,在水中主要以發射聲

納接收信號來識別物體.白暨豚的上呼吸道有著三對獨特的氣囊與一個形似鵝頭的喉嚨,但是

因為生存于水中靠水發音,所以并沒有陸地動物在空氣中發音所需要的聲帶.用特制的水聽器,

可以聽到白暨豚發出的“的答”“嘎嘎”等數十種不同的聲音.白暨豚發出的聲音常為兩聲一

對,發出聲音后會安靜的等待著回聲,從而辨出自己與產生回聲的阻礙的距離和大小,并且考

慮是否游向目標.它又會在收到回聲后的不久發出新的一對聲音,稍候又安靜一陣等待回聲.

第二次回聲收到后,它便可以分析出目標游動的方向與速度,白暨豚就是這樣如人造聲納般的

做回聲定位.用這獨特的聲納系統,它時常還可以在江底的淤泥中捕捉食物,也可以發出人耳

聽不見的高頻率音波,與十多千米外的同伴聯系.

白暨豚的大腦表面積要比海豚的大,大腦的重量約占總體量的0.5%,其中平均一只重95

千克的雄豚,大腦重470克.這等重量已接近大猩猩與黑猩猩的大腦重量,甚至某些學者認為白

暨豚比長臂猿和黑猩猩更聰明.
