垃圾資源的回收再利用

我們每天都要扔掉大量的垃圾。但很多垃圾都是可以再利用的，約30%—40%具有可回收再利用價值。經過處理之

后，垃圾又可以變成有用的東西，被賦予新的生命。如果我們珍惜資源，盡量回收利用，那么地球的寶藏就不會被

掏空。

以北京為例，每天產生的生活垃圾達1.2萬噸，1年產生的生活垃圾約500萬噸。平均每人產生垃圾500公斤。如

果500萬噸垃圾按照5米高×1米寬的規(guī)格沿著北京三環(huán)路堆放開去，那么全長48公里的三環(huán)路將被這些垃圾整整

圍繞20多圈。據(jù)統(tǒng)計，北京每天扔掉廢紙1500噸，廢塑料1500—2000噸，快餐盒80萬個；廢玻璃1500噸。

目前我國每年可利用而未得到利用的廢棄物的價值達250億元，約有300萬噸廢鋼鐵、600萬噸廢紙未得到回收利

用。廢塑料的回收率不到3%，橡膠的回收率為31%。僅每年扔掉的60多億只廢干電池就含7萬多噸鋅、10萬噸

二氧化錳。

我們每天丟棄的垃圾都被送到哪里去了？我國的垃圾處理方法主要以填埋為主；而垃圾在土地中自然降解的時間非

常漫長，而且有毒害的物質還有可能滲透到我們的飲用水中。如果我們把垃圾分類回收再利用，將大大緩解垃圾對

環(huán)境的危害。

讓我們都做具有環(huán)保意識的消費者，身體力行―三個再‖： 即再節(jié)約、再利用、再循環(huán)。環(huán)境保護要從我做起，從小

事做起。

Recycling Turns Trash to Treasure

We generate huge loads of garbage everyday. However, a large proportion of the trash -- about 30-40% of it -- can

be recycled. After proper treatment wastes can become uful, regaining a new life. If we value our resources and

try our best to go recycling, the resources of our earth will not be exhausted.

In Beijing 12,000 tons of houhold garbage is generated daily, the yearly total being 5 million tons and the

per-capita average 500 kilos. If we heap up the 5 million tons of wastes to form a dam 5 meters in height and 1

meter in width, it can circle the 48 kilometer-long Third Ring Road of Beijing over 20 times. Statistics show that

people in Beijing throw away 1,500 tons of waste paper, 1,500–2,000 tons of waste plastics, 800,000 styrofoam

lunch boxes and 1,500 tons of waste glass everyday.

At prent, the discarded reusable wastes in our country are valued at 25 billion yuan every year. About 3 million

tons of waste iron and steel as well as 6 million tons of waste paper are dispod of without being reud. The

recycling rate of waste plastics and waste rubber is only below 3% and 31% respectively. In the 6 billion waste

batteries thrown away every year alone we can obtain as much as over 70,000 tons of zinc and 100,000 tons of

mangane dioxide.

Where has the garbage gone that is produced everyday? In our country garbage is mainly trucked to the landfill

sites, but it takes a long time for the trash dispod of this way to decompo underground. And as some of the

substance is hazardous, its toxic effects can affect our drinking water sources. However, if we go in for sorting-out

and recycling programs, then the chance of our environment being contaminated will be reduced greatly.

So let us be environmentally aware consumers and practice the ―3 Rs:‖ Reduce, Reu, and Recycle.

Environmental protection calls for everyone’s effort in everyday routine.

（你不要的東西對我來說是個寶貝）；這樣翻譯，既體現(xiàn)了原文的意思又符合英語的表達習慣，而且Trash and

Treasure還體現(xiàn)了―頭韻法‖的語音效果。中文標題的原文比較平淡，而英語譯文卻比較生動，這就是翻譯的創(chuàng)造性

的表現(xiàn)。大家對標題的翻譯過于拘泥于字面，似乎動腦筋不夠，如：Recycling and Reu of Garbage Resources。

2. garbage：垃圾箱dustbin, litterbin litter basket（英式英語）；garbage can trash-can（美式英語）； 垃圾車dust-cart

（英式英語）garbage truck（美式英語）；請勿亂扔垃圾Plea do not (leave) litter. 有一些人只注重字面上的對等，

把―大量垃圾‖翻譯為 a lot of garbage, but much of it, 須不知，在這里的上下文中―大量‖應該翻譯為 large / huge /

enormous / loads / quantities / amounts

4. go recycling：開展再循環(huán)再利用；也可以翻譯為go in for recycling programs （參加廢物回收再利用的活動）

8. statistics show：也可以說 according to statistics

9. styrofoam lunch boxes：這兒的餐盒是指一次性的,即disposable lunch boxes；styrofoam 是發(fā)泡聚苯乙烯；也

有人把聚苯乙烯翻譯為polystyrene；但翻譯為fast food boxes不夠好

10. discarded reusable wastes：被扔掉的可以再利用的廢品

11. are valued at：也可以說 the value of … stands at …

12. dispod of：處理掉,即 get rid of; 垃圾處理refu disposal

13. as much as：起強調作用

18．go in for sorting-out and recycling programs 這種說法比較符合英語的表達習慣

19. environmentally aware consumers：有環(huán)保意識的消費者, 也可以翻譯為environment-friendly consumers

20. 三個―再‖three R’s – reduce, reu recycle可以在網上查到

21. Environmental protection calls for everyone’s effort in everyday routine.：也可以翻譯成To protect the

environment we must get everyone involved and act through our day-to-day habits. 下面這些字面上的翻譯不但意

思上不夠好，而且―從我做起，從小事做起‖的語言特征也沒有表現(xiàn)出來：should begin/start with me in small/petty/trivial

things/matters
