Youth is a preciou s gift and a golden time in our life.

bad living. This is also the time when our memories are best.

We are ableto learn more during this time than when we become

older. During our younger years, we havethe enthusiasm to t

high goals for ourlves. We also try to overcome obstacles

If we realize how preciou s youth is, we will be fulfilled

when we are young as well as when weare older. If we waste our

Towards love and learning, college teachers and students

hold controversial views.

The majority of college teachers, especially old teachers,

argue that students should give uplove and concentrate on

learning. They say that campus love is

time-and-energy-consumingand tears students away from their

main task. If a student ever falls in love, he/she

willundoubtedly neglect his/her studies and gradually lag

behind his/her classmates. A fewteachers, therefore, suggest

that the university authorities restore the traditional

regulationagainst love during students’ school years .

On the contrary, students hold that it is natural for young

people to fall in love on the campusbecau they meet every day

and their everyday meeting produces romantic passion

towardach other. They insist that the campus is not the Garden

of Eden and love is not the ForbiddenTree. They take for example

some of theirf riends who, falling in love, are studying harder

andhave made greater progress to plea their boy/girl

friends .

In my opinion, both views are lop-sided. If a student does

not give himlf/herlf away in lovebut takes it as a drive,

love produces positive effect. But if he/she indulges himlf/

herlf toodeeply in love, then he/she will be a devoted lover

but a frustrated learner.

My Dream

我的夢想

Everyone has a lot of dreams. Some people want to be rich,

dreaming of becoming millionairesovernight. Others want to be

famous, dreaming of suddenly jumping to great fame. I have alot

of dreams, too. When I was a young girl, I dreamed of becoming

a scientist like Hua Luogenin future. However, I knew ve ry well

that I could not succeed without painstaking efforts. So

Istudied hard in the middle school and college in order to

attain my goal.

After graduating from college, I found a job as a teacher.

Although I was very busy withteaching, I never gave up my goal.

I read a lot of books to get more knowledge. I madeexperiments

to pr acti and apply what I had learnt from the books.

Sometimes, I was sodeeply indulged in my rearch that I forgot

my meals and time. Now I have made greatprogress. Several of

my rearch papers have been published. The methods propod

in mypapers have been proven to be valuable for the solution

of some problems. I am very happy. The ladder of becoming a

scientist is still far ahead, but I have climbed the first rung

anyway.
