劇情介紹

法瑞爾飾演的國稅審計員最近總覺得耳邊總有一個聲音在念叨，就像是生活片段的旁白，而他生活過的或是即將經歷的盡在旁白中，這令他驚詫不已。深居簡出的作家艾瑪·湯普森正在傾力完成最新作品，她并不知道故事的主人公就生活在現實中，而其生活的際遇與她筆下的文字不謀而合，故事的結局就是主人公的悲慘離世。虛構與現實正在奇怪地交織，迫在眉睫的法瑞爾只好求助于文學教授達斯汀·霍夫曼，而作家凱潤·艾菲在出版社的催促下加快了寫作的速度. 主角通過文學教授的幫忙, 找到了作者, 希望改變自己的悲慘結局, 但是文學教授覺得, 如果改變了結局將會破壞作品美感. 于是法瑞爾決定勇敢的面對結局. 最終, 作者還是改變了結局, 將主角帶入這一連串故事的手表最終拯救了主角, 將故事劃上一個完美的句號.
