以上四道是同一類型的定語從句，都是地點定語從句。
6的意思是作者Edith Wharton 完全了解社會，where代替的是society社會，地點名詞。
11：你能把書放回原來的位置么？這句是看懂句子的意思即可得出答案。
12：你還記得她所工作的公司的名字么？這句一是選定語，這個是對the company公司所下的定語，也就是一地點名詞的定語從句，當然是選where。然后work in是跟company，一般說在哪工作是用動詞in，work at是從事于。。。

伊迪絲·華頓簡介
伊迪絲·華頓 (Edith Wharton, 1862年1月24日 - 1937年8月11日)，美國女作家。
原名伊迪絲·紐伯·瓊斯(Edith Newbold Jones)，是紐約名門望族瓊斯家的女兒。她在家中接受了良好的教育，后來多次出國旅行。1885年她和一個比她大13歲的有錢的波士頓人愛德華·華頓結了婚。此人性格雖好，但他們卻很少共同之處，幾年以后，愛德華患了精神病，最終導致了他們的離婚（1913年），從此以后，伊迪絲長住巴黎，并參加了紅十字會，一戰后僅回過美國一次，直到1937年去世，葬在凡爾賽。
伊迪絲·華頓的寫作特點
華頓與同時代的很多文人、政客保持著良好的關系。包括西奧多·羅斯福、F·斯科特·菲茲杰拉德、海明威以及亨利·詹姆斯等。

伊迪絲·華頓和英國女作家簡·奧斯丁（1775—1817）同屬“風俗小說家”。所謂“風俗小說”，就是指那種如實反映特定的時代、特定的地點、特定的社會階層的社會風俗、習慣禮儀的小說。伊迪絲·華頓的小說大多數描寫她所熟知的紐約上流社會，也就是十九世紀四十年代到七十年代的老紐約舊事。寫紐約上流社會，有《快樂之家》、《純真年代》、《老紐約》這樣的杰作，憑借她敏銳的觀察和駕馭文字的能力寫農村生活，也有《伊坦·弗洛美》那樣的名篇。
并非所有的大作家文筆都非常優美，但華頓夫人的文筆是有口皆碑的。抒情的文筆又穿插著微妙的諷刺，構成了華頓夫人突出的文體。
