潘基文講話呼吁結(jié)束性取向歧視

Some say that xual orientation and gender identity is

a nsitive subject. I understand. Like many of my generation, I did

not grow up talking about the issues. But I learned to speak out

becau lives are at stake and becau it is our duty, under the

United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human

Rights to protect the rights of everyone, everywhere.

We e a pattern of violence and discrimination directed at people

just becau they are gay, lesbian, bixual or transgender. There

is widespread bias at jobs, schools and hospitals. And appalling

violent attacks, including xual assault. People have been

imprisoned, tortured, even killed. This is a monumental tragedy for

tho affected and a stain on our collective conscience. It is also a

violation of international law.

To tho who are lesbian, gay, bixual or transgender, let me say:

You are not alone. Your struggle for an end to violence and

discrimination is a shared struggle. Any attack on you is an attack

on the universal values the United Nations and I have sworn to

defend and uphold. Today, I stand with you. And I call upon all

countries and people to stand with you, too. A historic shift is under

way. More States e the gravity of the problem. We must tackle

the violence, decriminalize connsual same-x relationships, ban

discrimination, and educate the public. The time has come.

有些人說，性取向和性別認同是一個敏感的話題。我明白...就像許多我這代人一樣，我沒有在成長過程中談?wù)撨^這些問題。但我學(xué)會了發(fā)聲，因為生命危在旦夕，因為根據(jù)《聯(lián)合國憲章》，這是我們的職責，因為《世界人權(quán)宣言》保護每個地方每個人的權(quán)利。

我要對這些同性戀、雙性戀或變性者說：你們并不孤單。你們爭取結(jié)束暴力與歧視的斗爭，是我們共同的斗爭，對你們的攻擊就是對我宣誓捍衛(wèi)的聯(lián)合國普世價值觀的攻擊。今天，我與你們站在一起，我呼吁所有國家和人民也與你們站在一起。一個歷史性的轉(zhuǎn)變正在進行中，更多的國家看到了問題的嚴重性，我們必須反對暴力，將雙方同意的同性關(guān)系合法化，禁止歧視，教育公眾。這個時機已經(jīng)到來。
