如今圣誕節已經從一個宗教節日變成一個世界性的大眾節日，人

們在節日期間互相祝福，期盼歡樂的新年來臨。圣誕節使得這個寒冷

的增添了一股暖意，也拉開了年底Holiday Season 的序幕。以下是關

關于圣誕節的英語單詞及短語：

Christmas Eve：平安夜，圣誕節前夕，每年的12月24日。這跟

我們的大年夜有點相似(New Year's Eve)。至于傳說平安夜吃蘋果那是

中國人自己發明的。西方人無此說法。

Christmas Day：圣誕節當天，每年的12月25日。相當于中國

的大年初一。Everybody goes for various parties to celebrate the

festival on Christmas day.(在圣誕節那天，大家都去參加各種各樣的

派對來慶祝節日)。

Boxing Day：圣誕節后的`第一個工作日，即每年12月26日，

意思：“重拳出擊的那一天”

尤其值得注意的是在西方有個，還有一個 Christmas Season。它

是指12月24日到翌年的1月6日，我們稱之為“圣誕節節期”，也

就是經常說的Holiday Season，指的是一整段日子。

Christmas gift 或者Christmas prent 兩個詞都可以表示圣誕

禮物。我們經常說：Here is a christmas gift for you 或者 I have a

prent for your christmas day. 即表達要送禮物給對方的意思。

Santa Claus：圣誕老人。他趕著馴鹿，拉著裝滿禮物的雪橇挨家

挨戶給孩子們送禮物的形象已深深的印在人們的記憶中。

Bethlehem：伯利恒，耶路撒冷南方六英里一市鎮，傳說為耶穌

誕生地。

Christmas Tree：圣誕樹

Christmas decorations：圣誕裝飾物

Christmas wreath 或者christmas garland 生蛋花環

Christmas crafts 圣誕工藝品

Christmas Waits：報佳音人。圣誕夜指12月24日晚至25日晨，

教會組織一些圣詩班(或由信徒自發的組織)挨門挨戶的在門下或窗下唱

圣誕頌歌，叫著“報佳音”，意思是再現當年天使向伯利恒郊外的牧

羊人報告耶穌降生的喜訊。報佳音的人稱之為：Christmas Waits。這

項活動往往要進行到天亮，人數越來越多，歌聲越來越大，大街小巷

滿城皆是歌聲。

Christmas Carol：圣誕頌歌，《平安夜》等圣誕頌歌人們耳熟能

詳。

Christmas pudding：圣誕布丁。圣誕節吃的一種應節食品。

Christmas recess：圣誕節暫停營業、上學、工作期間。
