上期神話中的美杜莎的故事想必大家還記憶猶新吧，你瞧！這幅圖中，盾牌上刻著美

杜莎的頭顱以及她的兒子飛馬座佩加索斯的飾紋。而這位手持盾牌的美女神色冷峻、高貴

典雅。她是誰呢？她就是智慧女神雅典娜。

Athena was the daughter of Zeus and

Zeus was walking through the gardens on Olympus, he saw the beautiful Metis,

and fell in love with her. After their union, Zeus went to consult the Oracle of

Delphi, and received word that Metis would bear him two children: first a girl,

and then a boy that would overthrow him, just as he did to his father. He feared the

conquences and decided to swallow Metis. He challenged her to a game of

shifting. The two of them assumed many forms, shifting into smaller and

smaller forms. Finally, Metis

assumed the form of a small fly, and Zeus opened his

mouth and swallowed her immediately. He was too late: Metis had already

conceived a child. Weeks after swallowing Metis, Zeus was suddenly stricken

with vere head pains. None of the gods could do anything to heal him. Finally, he

called on his son Hephaestus to split his head open with his sledge. Other versions

say that inside Zeus’ stomach, Metis immediately began making a helmet and

雅典娜是宙斯和提坦女神中的智慧神墨提斯的女兒。當(dāng)宙斯在奧林匹斯花園散步時(shí)，

他看到美麗的墨提斯，并且愛上了她。他倆結(jié)合后，宙斯去特爾斐神殿詢問，得知墨提斯

斯用雪橇劈開他的腦袋。其他版本說，在宙斯的腹中，墨提斯立即開始為她未出生的女兒

制作頭盔和長袍。制作盔甲過程中的錘打使得宙斯痛苦不堪，于是赫菲斯托斯用斧頭劈開

他的頭。體態(tài)婀娜、披堅(jiān)執(zhí)銳的雅典娜，從宙斯的頭里跳出來。
